CÁC DẠNG CÂU HỎI CƠ BẢN TRONG BÀI TẬP ĐỌC HIỂU

Có 9 dạng câu hỏi thường xuất hiện trong các bài đọc hiểu và được chia làm 3 nhóm chính: câu hỏi về ý

chính (main idea), câu hỏi thông tin cụ thể và suy luận, câu hỏi từ vựng.

A - CÂU HỎI Ý CHÍNH

Câu hỏi 1: Tìm ý chính của bài đọc (Main idea)

Câu hỏi 2: Xác định mục đích của bài (Purpose)

Câu hỏi 3: Nhận diện cách tổ chức ý tưởng hoặc bố cục chung hoặc thái độ (general organization or attitude)

B - CÂU HỎI THÔNG TIN CỤ THỂ & SUY LUẬN

Câu hỏi 4: Xác định thông tin được nêu trong bài (stated detail)

Câu hỏi 5: Xác định thông tin không được nêu trong bài (unstated details)

Câu hỏi 6: Xác định thông tin này được đề cập ở đâu trong bài (where questions)

Câu hỏi 7: Suy luận, tìm hàm ý (inference)

Câu hỏi 8: Tim từ hoặc cụm từ được nói đến hoặc được quy chiếu đến (reference)

C - CÂU HỎI TỪ VỰNG

Câu hỏi 9: Tìm từ đồng nghĩa, trái nghĩa (Vocabulary). Trong 9 câu hỏi này, câu hỏi 1, 2 và 3 là nhóm câu hỏi tổng quát nên để làm sau, các câu hỏi còn lại là nhóm câu hỏi thông tin cụ thể và câu hỏi suy luận

-  tùy mức độ khó dễ có thể làm ngay hoặc bỏ qua sau đó quay lại làm sau.

Câu hỏi 1 và 2: Tìm ý chính của bài đọc (main idea) và xác định mục đích của bài (purpose)

Cách làm

Hầu hết các bài đọc đều có ít nhất 1 câu hỏi dạng này và có thể được hỏi dưới nhiều hình thức khác nhau nhưng chung quy lại sẽ yêu cầu thí sinh xác định "topic", "title", "subject", "primary idea" hay "main idea". Với dạng bài tập cơ bản thì nội dung chính của đoạn văn thường nằm ở câu chủ đề hoặc câu đầu tiên ở mỗi đoạn văn (đôi khi lại là câu cuối cùng) nên thí sinh chỉ cần đọc lướt nhanh những câu đầu tiên hoặc những câu cuối cùng để tìm ra nội dung chính. Đối với dạng bài tập nâng cao, nội dung chính của bài sẽ không nằm trong một câu cụ thể nào cả mà là ý chung của toàn bài. Do đó, chúng ta nên để lại những câu hỏi dạng này để làm sau cùng. Sau khi đã dành thời gian đọc để tìm thông tin chi tiết của các câu hỏi khác, chúng ta sẽ nắm được nội dung chính của toàn bài.

Cách làm

Dạng câu hỏi này thường yêu cầu xác định bố cục của đoạn văn hoặc thái độ của tác giả trong đoạn

văn. Đối với dạng câu hỏi bố cục, chúng ta nên chú ý đến từ nối giữa các đoạn văn. Đối với câu hỏi về thái độ của tác giả, chúng ta nên chú ý đến các tính từ biểu đạt, hoặc phán đoán dựa vào nội dung chính sau khi đã đọc lướt toàn bài. Đặc biệt, các em cần phải dùng phương pháp loại trừ đối với các phương án hoàn toàn sai.

Với dạng câu hỏi này, ta nên làm sau khi đọc lướt toàn bài để hiểu nội dung chính của bài như thế nào, từ đó, ta sẽ tìm ra thái độ của tác giả được thể hiện trong bài. Trong đoạn văn này, tác giả đưa ra luận điểm về xu hướng gia tăng của giáo dục tại nhà ở Mỹ, các lý do xu hướng này diễn ra và phát triển, vì thế thái độ của tác giả ở đây mang tính tích cực.

Cách làm

Câu hỏi xác định thông tin được nêu trong bài thường hỏi về một chi tiết thông tin nhỏ trong bài đọc. Trả lời cho câu hỏi này thì chính là thông tin được nêu sẵn trong bài. Thông thường, phương án trả lời đúng chỉ là "restatement" nhắc lại thông tin trong bài bằng một cách diễn đạt từ ngữ khác.

Chúng ta thấy thông tin ở câu: "There are now plenty of websites, support groups, and conventions that help parents protect their rights and enable them to learn more about educat-ing their children." → Đáp án A: Mạng Internet, những tiện ích cùng sự nhóm hỗ trợ.

Lưu ý: ở đây còn có kỹ thuật paraphrasing (các cách diễn đạt giống nhau cho cùng một ý), "teach" và "educate", "support" và "help" hoặc "enable" là các cặp từ gần nghĩa, đồng nghĩa. Câu hỏi 5: Xác định thông tin không được nêu trong bài (unstated details)

Cách làm

Một trong những dạng câu hỏi thường gặp trong bài đọc là tìm câu trả lời có nội dung không được đề cập trong đoạn văn. Dạng câu hỏi này thường xuất hiện các từ "not mentioned", "not stated", "all following options are true Except" hay "not true". Dạng câu hỏi này sẽ có 3 lựa chọn chứa thông tin được đề cập trong bài và 1 lựa chọn không được đề cập trong bài.

The passage:

The Alaska pipeline starts at the frozen edge of the Arctic Ocean. It stretches southward across the largest and northernmost state in the United States, ending at a remote ice-free seaport village nearly 800 miles from where it begins. It is massive in size and extremely complicated to operate. The steel pipe crosses windswept plains and endless miles of delicate tundra that tops the frozen group. It weaves through crooked canyons, climbs sheer mountains, plunges over rocky crags, make its way through thick forests, and passes over or under hundreds of rivers and streams. nào trong bài. Các đáp án đưa ra sẽ là các dòng hoặc các đoạn chứa thông tin.
